Bondage.com Gets "Virtual" With Virtuozzo
April 17, 2006 - Bondage.com, the world's premiere adult online destination for bondage, domination, sadism and masochism (BDSM) enthusiasts continues to set the standard for Internet communities both from a consumer and a technical standpoint. Following a hugely successful relaunch and rebrand in February 2006, Bondage.com is now pleased to announce that their webservers are virtualized after entering into a deal with Virtuozzo, a leader in virtual private servers (VPS). Terms of the deal are undisclosed.
Virtuozzo creates isolated, secure virtual private servers or virtual environments on a single physical server enabling better server utilization, ensuring guaranteed resources and preventing applications from conflicting. Each VPS performs and executes exactly like a stand-alone server; VPSs can be rebooted independently and have users, IP addresses, processes, system libraries and configuration files. As an Operating System virtualization solution, the unique architecture enables the most efficient use of hardware, software and management resources. The light overhead and efficient design of Virtuozzo makes it the right virtualization choice for server consolidation, disaster recovery and all production servers with live applications and data.
Bondage.com President Mark Pace states, "Given that we have over 2,000 of our community members logged on to Bondage.com at any given time and we are always offering new and exciting upgrades for our members, we felt it absolutely necessary to employ the use of 40 virtual servers in addition to the 40 servers we currently have had running. The virtual servers run on dedicated hardware nodes. So we built out the hardware nodes and now we are able to add and move servers with ease. To put it simply, this allows deployment time to happen in hours (not days or even weeks) to keep everything running consistently. Unlike other virtualization software, Virtuozzo doesn�t emulate the hardware, it lets virtual servers take advantage of the core operating system on the hardware node, therefore making it extremely efficient. Being virtualized tremendously reduces our server maintenance overhead and allows us to focus much more time on the needs of our ever-growing BDSM community."
